when i render mpeg 1 or 2 and play my clip. I get inverted negative image with two colors- purple and green. Uninstalled and reinstalled videofactory 2.0a.
dialog mcr42.dll and videowave.exe shut down problem. I have video wave 3 and 5. 5 is given me problems with rendering. But videowave 3 has no problem at all. Reinstalled all drivers, sound drivers, directx 8.0a, video updates, all formats checked on player. Re formated all hard drives and reinstalled No help at all. Had only one program installed at a time, still same result. Running windows 98se, amdk6 500, 512 ram, 40 gig maxtor 7200,10 wd 5400
ATI AIW 128 pro. Is there any hope ????

Had a similar problem. Only happened with Microsoft's Media Player. Every MPEG regardless what CODEC they were compressed with would play about the first half second normally, then as you said the image flipped and had the color distortion. I tried lots of things, nothing got rid of it, until I installed XP Pro. So it sounds like another weird Registry error.

thanks for the response. Have you tried real player with mpg rendering with video factory? Heres another snafu. when i captured avi and rendered uncompressed or indeo 5.06 avi with VF 2.0a then would take that to videowave 3 and rendered mpeg the same effect takes place. Was hoping to edit in video factory then render in video wave 3. All this software and I'm unable to produce anything. Very frusted and not to mention a little lighter in the wallet. Adobe 6 at $500 dollars doesn't seem that bad.

A very effecive encoder is TMPGEnc. It has many advanced options for controlling the rendering quality. So far it is freeware, being that the author posts a new version each month, not yet offering the product for sale.

What I do when making any MPG is edit in Video Factory, (as a AVI) then render as a AVI, then finish up in TMPGEnc.

Found an old video that I produced and played on media player last year. Rendered in Mpeg. Now it will not play on windows media player 7.1. So I browsed videowave 5 cd and found an older, simpler windows player listed and installed that and removed 7.1 player. All my renedered mpeg files now play and life is good. Thanks for advise on TMPGnc. When I have free time I'll look in to it.
