What do you mean by having the MJPEG codec running? A codec doesn't actually "run" like a program, it is installed on your system and is available when a video application needs it. Your Canon video files use the MJPEG codec and it must be installed on your system in order to use the files from with Vegas. Just leave it installed and everything will work fine.

well, i can view it in WM2 and WM9.. but only the audio loads when i load it in vegas...
so i downloaded morgans Mjpeg v3... and it loads in the taskbar...
if i disable it.. it wont work.. but iwth it enabled it works like it used to (in vegas)

any ideas?
thanks

Vegas has never had built-in MJPEG support. Apparently at some time in the past you had some other software installed which installed its own VFW-compatible MJPEG codec, which Vegas could also use. You must have uninstalled that program. "Showshifter" is one program I can think of that installs an MJPEG codec.

I believe that the last couple of version of Windows Media Player has a DirectShow MJPEG codec which is why you can play the file. However, Vegas won't use DirectShow codecs, it requires a VFW (Video for Windows) compatible codec, which the Morgan codec is.

As John Cline suggested. the Morgan MJPEG codec is not actually “running”. What is running is a program that tweaks your video filters to swap the Morgan codec in and out. It’s like changing the registry back and forth. Why would you want this? Well I’m glad you asked. ;-) If you own an MJPEG capture card like the Pinnacle DC10 or Pinnacle AV, it has its own hardware MJPEG codec. But this codec might not be available for all programs to use. Unfortunately, you cannot have two MJPEG codec registered at the same time. This is the purpose of the utility. You can use the hardware codec to capture, then switch on the Morgan codec to use with programs that cannot see the hardware codec, then switch back to the hardware codec to print-to-tape. It makes me glad I use DV now.
