MS 16 won't let me record audio

PaintballTwin wrote on 10/28/2019, 5:23 PM

Whenever i try to arm a audio track to record, it gives me an error saying

"The system is low on memory. You maybe be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications"

There are no other applications open (other than the normal background windows stuff), and current RAM usage is only at 20% of 16g. I have multiple hundreds of gigs of space open on each of the hard drives, anyone have any ideas as to how i can get this to work? I've tried rebooting both the PC and program several times, but no joy.

I previously used MS 14 for years without this issue until a week ago all of a sudden it wouldn't let me record audio, i figured since it wasn't being supported anymore it was probly just a glitch and might as well upgrade. Turns out that was a waste of money so far.

The one i have selected is the "Windows Classic Wave Driver" as that is the only option that had my USB microphone as an available input device.

I have a USB microphone, again, it worked fine until like last week, and i can't seem to figure out how to get it to work again. I have plenty of available RAM and HD space should not be the issue unless there is some magical hard limit that i can't find?

Have you recently had a Windows update? That sometimes stuffs things up and you have to play around getting it to use the correct driver. Is your USB mike working outside of VMS?

As for your mike not working due to MS14 not being supported anymore, that's a strange conclusion! But anyway you should find there are plenty of new, or improved features, in VMS16 compared to 14. Are you using Platinum or the basic version?

Not saying it isn't letting me BECAUSE it is no longer supported. That happened long ago. I'm saying that, with MS14 seeming to be glitched, and no longer being supported, i decided to try MS16. Which seems to have the same issue.

I have the Platinum Suite in both.I can get the mic to work in some of the programs, but this issue i don't think is so much about the mic working or not, as it won't even let me arm the track, after which point one can normally see if the mic is working or not. But the program saying my system doesn't have the resources to be able to handle recording an audio track to begin with. Which by all indicators it should. It very well may have been a recent Windows update that tanked it.

This has cropped up a few times. Have a look at this thread

Not the same thing. It won't even let me arm the track. Period. Now if it was letting me arm, but i couldn't get signal from the mic...maybe then its the same thing. But when i press the arm button it errors saying the system is out of memory. (which its not so far as anything i can see). But thanks for reading the post. (not)
