MS14 Plat Sony AVC mp4 AAC audio export Broken

Using Vegas MS14 Platinum (trial at present) and exporting using any Sony AVC/MVC template to mp4 with AAC audio I find the audio is just noise.

This doesn't happen with Vegas MS13 where the AAC audio is okay.

With MS14 the same file exported with a template using Dolby AC3 is okay and exports using MainConcept mp4 with AAC audio are okay. It's just the Sony AVC/MVC AAC audio that's a problem.

Could someone please check to see if it's just me.

If you use a default template I think it is only you.
If you use a selfmade template (from a former version) then there are a lot of users seeing the same thing. It's an already reported bug and Vegas people are working on it.

Thanks Cornico, you've just put your finger on it. It hadn't occurred to me that I was using Customised templates. Unfortunately MS doesn't indicate which of the templates are default and which you have customised. I wish it did.

MS14, like MS13 has picked up templates I created in MS12. All versions appear to be using the same Render Templates folder in my AppData/Roaming/Sony folder.

Anyway I've just done a mp4 export with AAC audio using a 30p template which is sure to be default because, like you, I'm PAL and work in 25p. And yes the audio was perfect.

I suppose the workaround is to redo or resave my templates from MS14. Those in the Render Templates AppData folder telling me which I've created. Many thanks again.

It's only with Sony AVC. I renamed the AppData folder to old.... and wait till they fixe it, because we have a lot of customized PAL templates for our forum members made.

Resaving a problem template under a new name didn't solve the problem. But identifying a default and changing it, saving and using, did produce okay audio.

Interestingly my new template has gone into my Sony Render Templates folder. The only file in the Vegas Render Templates folder is a Favourite Settings file. From its date and time of a few minutes ago it's obviously the current one.

This is an issue when using a render template from Movie Studio 13 in 14. A way to be sure not to use a template from Movie Studio 13 is to uninstall it from the computer.

The default templates of 13 and 14 are the same and don't have any problem.
A customized template from a former version of Sony Vegas Software and a customized template from the (Magix) Vegas Video Software are all being stored at C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates.
The only templated that gives this problem are the Sony AVC customized templates from any former Sony version.

Uninstalling such a version does not help because the stored files that are possible to use stay in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates and will not be deleted.

Thank you for this. Uninstalling both versions 13 and 14, then deleting everything in the Sony\Render folder, then re-installing version 14 .... solved it for me!

Many thanks,

Toby

Renaming the avc-sony folder in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates is enough.
When the people of Vegas Software fixe this issue the folder can get his initial name back.
