i'm gonna be long winded here, cuz i think u need see the way i am doing things--probably wrong but it seems ok to me.
i have some 2 year ol Motion JPEG "video" i shot on my digicam of my wife's dog agility runs. they are all less than 2 minutes per run. per a previous thread, i downloaded and installed a Morgan MJPEG codec so i could import the files into VegasMS4. i trimmed and then saved each file as an .avi. after i did all of them, i edited a few clips of dog stuff taken with my new MiniDV cc.
Using MS4, i added each of them onto the timeline, adding chapter markers and text to indicate the day, etc for each run. then i "Saved to disk" in .avi. everytime i did this, there are clips that are either missing, or the last few clips are dropped. for instance, when it creates the file, it says it should be about 6gb, but when it is done, it is only 2.5bg or so--this for a 20minute total video.
so yesterday i started over. i added all the files and created a .avi file and this took like 55mintues---but in looking at the file afterward, i found i forgot a chapter marker and 2 clips with their own marker, so i added them in the middle of the timeline---a total now of 12 markers. maybe this is a problem, but i shifted all the tracks to the right by more than the time of the 2 inserted clips, added the 2 clips, text and then shifted the moved clips to the left. it all plays fine in MS4.
in all the original chapter markers, there is a small number in the "flag", but in my new inserted ones there is not. i created a new .avi file, and now it takes 1.5 hours----almost double, just by adding a chaprter marker and 2 clips---this can't be---something is wrong. I'm using the orignal Project File and just adding a marker and the clips. no other programs were running, i have plenty of disk space.
Should have i deleted the markers, text and clips on the timeline until i reached the point where i added the new marker and clips, and then added them back in? this would be a lot more work. shifting them is bad enough.....
how do you folks add new clips and markers to an existing set of clips????
What did i do wrong??
thanks for any help,
ron
