Multicamera tracks and audio

When I create a multicamera track with 2 video tracks and their 2 audio tracks, do the two audio tracks get combined together or does only the first audio track get used? In most cases, I'd prefer just the first track, but in some cases I'd like the option to crossfade in the second audio track (which has more ambient sound in it).

Does anyone know Vegas's behavior with multicamera edits and their audio tracks?

As far as I know, when you set up for m/c in Vegas, you can choose to (or not) edit multicamera audio. It's one of the options you can check.

Well, I found the answer to my own question quite quickly with experimentation. The first audio track is used for every take unless there is no video for take one at that time, then the audio take related to the selected video take is used. Sorry for posting before trying. :)

If you only choose one audio track when creating the multicamera track, then it will be used for every take when available.

I keep the audio tracks separate while editing multicamera, often because one is carrying a better audio signal appropriate for both video tracks. I use volume envelopes if I want to bring one track up to play along with the good track, or to switch from one to the other. My audio decisions are quiet independent of which camera video take I happen to be selecting. For example, doing a wedding, I'll have the main camera plugged into the sound system and the other roaming, with audio on it to coordinate the video when editing but to not use the sound from the romaning one (unless I want to audio it picked up from the congregation or vows that are not being picked up by the church system's microphones).

1) Copy your audio to new tracks so it is available for mixing later.
2) Do not "Edit multicamera audio with video"

This will work for 99% of your projects.
