Multiple interfii - how ?

Thinking of adding a (used) MOTU 1224 to my 2408, to give 20 inputs. Then I can not only have more channels recording at the same time, but use the 'direct outs' on the Mackie 24.8 instead of 'filtering' the signals through the busses.

But how do I select the two devices at the same time in Vegas ? They could both be set to the same buffer size so *that* wouldn't be a fundamental conflict.

I guess I can't ... (?)

Check and see if MOTU have updated drivers that explicitly refer to the scenario you are refering to. In the case of the M-Audio firewire 410 they mention updates on drivers that will run at least two of these devices at the same time. Given the prominence of the MOTU brand they should have drivers that will handle your situation.

Just circumvented the problem. Just bought a MOTU 24i from B&H (ex-demo) for less than they are selling on Ebay (US$499 + $85 air freight to New Zealand). Will now sell my 2408/2. And my DA-88 (finally) !

And hopefully come out well on top $-wise. Not counting the inital cost of DA-88 when new....
