Have you played with the F11, Ctrl+F11, and Shift+F11 commands?

Dennis,
It fooled me the first couple of time docking and undocking because the mouse pointer does not change when you hover over and grasp the window. The window does not move until you drag at least an inch distance too, so you get no immediate feed back that it is going to drag the window.
You could have the mouse pointer turn into a hand grab Icon like when your scrolling by dragging in a PDF doc.
Just a thought.

Dennis,
Change of Mouse Pointer or one of these little help windows "detach this window" would do the trick.

Thanks salad, but I just installed XP Pro fresh to the hard drive after first having used W2K Pro for a week or so, and while in the process, let it get driver updates for me (today). It went for a new one for the RADEON 8500 . . . and the problems I was having getting things placed over on the secondary monitor disappeared - no more problems!

>>>Would having the drag handle change color or highlight when the mouse was over it help identify it as a control (and not just a decoration)?

any type of rollover would do the trick. the problem is that there is no rollover effect. throw in a tool tip, or status bar message too.

salad, my experience with W2K Pro vs. XP Pro is insufficient to give you an intelligent answer. W2K is still easier to support - for example, having a SCSI RAID card froma well known manufacturer (Addaptec) still only netted me a beta driver for XP Pro, while the W2K driver is fairly old (hence stable). Otherwise, I will get used to how this one does things soon enough. It really doesn't matter though as I live in my applcications not the operating system.

I had a chance to get W2KPro, but went with XPPro, arriving soon.......

RE: the rollover idea, I'd just change the cursor to the open hand icon. The window divider icons change, but there's no iconic feedback that the verticle bar actually does anything until you try grabbing it. Then you can even do the cute "gripping hand" when dragging a window around. Forgive me if those icons only exist on Mac, but I'm sure I've seen them in windows too...

Adobe Acrobat has the "cute" little hand that closes.
.......I...don't know if THAT's really necessary...but, what the hey!!!
