Multiple Problems

the continuing saga...
Finally, I've been downloading DV with no problem; analog thru the Sony DMACDV2 is still a problem, but I can deal with it. Editing is no problem...BUT
I'm not finding any options for compression, color options, etc. I"ve got a 4:08 project completed, smallest I can get it to is 780mb--ridiculous.
Also, I can't get it to print to tape, in any format.

Have I screwed up from the start, by not having initial settings right? I'm really not that stupid, I don't think, but something ain't kosher here!

DV is a fixed size, (NTSC= @228 MB minute), so if you render as DV there's no way you can do "extra compression" and get smaller file sizes.

If you render using the NTSC DV template (make sure you don't change it at all) then you should have no problem printing your file to tape.

Your file size isn't 'ridiculous'. If your goal is to print footage back to DV tape then DV is the way to go. DV is about 250MB per minute.

You could choose a different compression format to get smaller file sizes, but the quality will not be as good.
