My goal - I have a single video file and I want to create multiple menu items (scenes), where each menu item plays only a portion of the single video file (i.e. start/end point). I also want a different audio track on each of those portions of the video.
Here's what I've tried so far, but have been unsuccessful...
I inserted the video file once in the project, and added chapter markers. However, that doesn't give me the desired result because if I start playback on a given chapter, it continues playing past the end of the chapter, and I want it to stop at the end of the chapter. I've since read that is the definition of how chapters work.
So instead, I inserted the same video file multiple times, resulting in a menu entry for each time I inserted it (multiple scenes). Again, I set the markers for the start and end points on the video file on each insertion. This gives the desired result for the video in that only that section of the video is played using the menu item.
Now I want to play a different audio track for each video. However, when I place the audio file (MP3), it always plays from the start of the entire video file (i.e. 00:00:00), and not from the start marker position as I want it. Using this approach, I can't find a way to move the audio file so it starts at the same time as the video start position.
My question, how can I accomplish my goal as stated at the top of this message?
I've started using Audacity to create a single, long audio track that can then be placed into every scene, but its way to tedious to line up the video and audio using two different programs.
