I am an Audio Engineer who works in both the Music Industry
and Advertising Industry. I have used Protools,Cubase,
Sound Forge, CD Architect and AMS Neve's Audio File for
editing Multitrack Music. One Feature that I've been
looking for in a Digital Editor which the AMS Neve has
(which I can't afford personally at $40K/8 tracks) is the
ability to Move the Cut point of splicing 2 regions
together. This is a great Feature when editing Music.
When doing so it is always easy to find the "1" of a piece
of music and cut it together with another region. The
problem is that this might not be the best cut point and
sounds bad although the timing is correct. If you can move
the cut point it eccentially moves the tail of the first
region while moving the head of the ajoining region.
Therefore keeping your timing the same and just moving the
cut point to sound more musical. Can Vegas Do this type of
edit? I've downloaded the trial version and found it
really user friendly and will purchase it if it has this
ability. I think Vegas is a wonderful program, I learned
how to edit with it in under an hour, compared to Cubase
VST which has taken me over 3 months and am still pulling
my hair out over.
