music skips on slide show

I have just recently purchased VMS and made my first slide show with music added. When I play the slide show in VMS I noticed that the music will ocasionally skip a note. I t appears to be doing this when I fade in and fade out the slides. Has anyone else had this problem and will it be on my DVD after I render, encode and burn. Thanks in advance. This is my first post on this forum.

When you are previewing your project on the timeline the computer has to do an awful lot of work to keep up with your effects and transitions. Sometimes there's too much for it to do in realtime and it skips or hiccups. When you render an output file for DVD the computer gets to take it's time and do it correctly so the final result should play back smoothly.

I highly recommend getting a few DVD-RW (or DVD+RW) discs to play around with so you can find out what works well without wasting discs.

For that matter, you can always "make movie" to a file on your hard drive and then play that back in Windows Media Player to see how it will run without even burning a disc.

Hi Billy, I have the same issue on my XP machine. I was considering adding more RAM thinking that might help but who knows. Saving out to .avi does seem to be a really good test.

Thanks for the great advice fellows. I will play around with this and see what happens. The clip is not very long so the render time shold be minimum. Thanks again. Great forum. This is my very first post .
