I'm thinking of purchasing vegas and I have a couple of questions concerning vegas. Can anybody can give me some advice?
I'm learning how to create music videos for live performances. Ive been using the vegas demo and it's great but what I would like to create is the effect of syncing the video to music,, ex... when i play my windows media player the patterns pulse to the beat. I can't seem to find any effects like this that are useable with vegas. I've seen other sofware that offer this feature but i would like to use vegas. Any info would be great ,,,,thanx

Dinodino,
Not sure if this will help but to get my pictures or video to synch up with a beat or pause in music, I place markers on the timeline by tapping the m key in time with the music, and then, go back an place an event (clip or photo) at the marker. With the snap-to feature on, the event aligns very nicely. I also use pan/crop or track motion to make the event zoom, move around, PIP, etc. You can also use the envelopes to slo-mo, speed up, reduce opacity (for overlays), reduce or encrease sound, etc. I don't know of any automatic features (except a script to place a marker at a pre-determined place on the timeline). However, the possibilities are endless for what you can do. Hope this helps.

Here's a tip from some who isn't just tone deaf but also beat dead.

Use track Eq on the music track to cutout everthing over say 150 Hz then add LOTs of compression, copy to new track. Now you can 'see' the beat, well works with a lot of music.

I don't quite follow ya but i'll try it. What do I do with the beat on the new track? I'm new to vegas and video editing but I have alot of experience with acid pro and sound forge 7.0,,,,, Thanx

To expand on farss idea, under the track headers is a yellow triangle, put your cursor over it and press and HOLD the left mouse button. You should see a display to the left of the triangle that says NORMAL RATE. Click the yellow triangle and move it to the left to slow the music playback rate to .50 (half speed). Then zoom into the time line until you can see the individual beats. You can place your marker very accurately for each beat. Good Luck, John.

thanxs for the tips, It seems as though I' m at the bottom of the learnihg curve. I guess I was looking for that special effect where as I have to create the effect myself. This is exactly why I enjoy all SF (sony) software.
