Must I capture via Firewire?

Hi- I have a 'still' camera that also includes a rudementary movie capability that records only Quicktime .MOV files and outputs only via USB... is it possible for me to use Screenblast to simply open/import the .MOV files from my hard drive for editing and assembly, or is there encoding that SB does in the 'capture' process that is essential to rendering the file editable?

Is my USB/Quicktime camera useless for Screenblast?

Thanks,

Doc B.

Screenblast doesn't do any conversions during the capture. This posting from Chienworks might be helpful.

You should be able to edit any file you have a codec for with Screenblast. If you follow Ian’s link you’ll learn that you need to install the complete Quicktime package (not just the player) to be able to edit MOV files but it is possible. You only need to use firewire if you want to capture with Screenblast but you can capture with any program and edit in Screenblast.

I have the same thing here - a Canon Powershot S30. The "video" will load into Screenblast, but will be missing the sound or the video (forget which). From a previous post, I was told to open the file with VirtualDub, then "Save as...". The new file will open in Screenblast with no problems. VirtualDub is a free file at www.virtualdub.org
