MXF is a wrapper. Vegas supports some, but not all of the many MXF formats.
If it's from camera acquisition, Device Explorer is your best bet.

NO - the best answer is go thru your camera's utility for this purpose.
No other method is actually correct although some may do something at times....your Utility is what you use.

Actually, I see now that Movie Studio apparently doesn't even support Sony MXF, so the acquisition method is a non-discussion.

You use the camera utility. You get an MXF wrapped codec of a certain type. Then you use re-wrap or other utilitiies to read the file and tanscode to what you need. precisely.
