Ok, heres my first impressions. Cant really notice its a new version excpet for the splash screen and seeing it loading all the different componets. Snapping is a nice touch. TC is even better....

However...(you knew it was coming...) I have finally figured out why I hate Premiere. I changed the timeline to the bottom and I said to myself...YUCK. Its like Premiere only minus a window. I know I have asked in the past for the extra window but now, it stinks. Instead of wanting Vegas to be like Premiere/Avid, I realized it was the other way around. What the hell was I thinking?

My only gripes is for more presets for quick decisions as opposed to tinkering around (not a lot of free time these days) and maybe the ability to tweak MC's H.264 AVC settings and high profile. Ill manage somehow...I always do.

Overall, rendering feels a bit faster and up-res of SD to 720p is freaking amazing. Oh and thew new 80GB Ipods with 640x480 resolution will be totally sweet with Vegas output. Easily the best $150+ Ive spent this year other than beer and more Gator gear.

I know some folks from DogsHead Fish brewery that might disagree, and theirs is 9% strong. :-)!!!

Oh, and if you live in NOVA or are visiting and you like a beer with a good hops taste, do try out Dominion Lager, brewed in Ashburn VA and an excellent brew.

I'm can't understand why:

- Vegas 7 haven't native MPEG edit yet (while Premiere Pro with same MC plugin re-render only edited MPEG parts) or it's hardly to realise for Madison programmers?

- Every time I must download about 50-60 Mb of Media Manager & SQL, while I (and many other) not use it. Why it can't be placed as a seperate part (as Preset Manager for example)?

Kanst - I can edit MPEG in Vegas, I don't know why you're not able to, but that's been out since V6.

I think maybe what Kanst meant was Vegas can't "re-render only edited MPEG parts" (or "smart render"), like it can for DV. This is what I was hoping for in V7. While it is faster than V6, if it has to re-render everything even if unchanged that isn't complete "native editing" in my book.

Yes, about "smart render" :(

"Just noticed that there is now a "Burn Disc at once" or "Burn Track at once" option under "Burn CD".

That's been there for YEARS"

You're right Ed. I was thinking of SoForge and had a brain fa*t at 3AM.

Pay no attention to any of my comments this week. Lots goin' on and no sleep.
