I was renaming my mxf files that I shot with a Panasonic P2 camera and the audio is gone from the clips. They all had audio beforehand, and now all of the renamed clips have no audio. I have tried re-importing the clips into VEGAS, but that doesn't fix anything. I am using VEGAS 14. How can I fix this?
Aren't the video and audio files separate synced and linked by the file names? Can you rename the video files back to their original names?
Renaming P2 clips for the use in Vegas Pro is close to impossible in practice, imho. You would need to rename all corresponding files (at least video, audio and XML) and also edit the XML file in the way it not only modifies the "ClipName" tag but also the cryptic "UserClipName" tag (which is the toughest part).
To me it would seem to be much easier to render brand new files with new names.
But maybe I'm wrong and I missed the simple part of it. Maybe there's a special tool for renaming P2 clips.
Renaming the clips back seems to work.
Definitely don't mess around with P2 clips without knowing what you're doing. I thought it would be fine renaming the clips in my bins in VEGAS, but it messed everything up.
