"My sincere apology to anyone I have offended!"

GeoffCampbell wrote on 6/22/2003, 11:19 PM
To All: I have been made aware of the fact that I am guilty of violating certain Forum protocols in my postings. Such was never my intent, and I am very sorry for my ignorance regarding the accepted "Dos, and Don'ts." Furthermore, if I appear to be unappreciative, of the multitude, and wealth, of help, and information, that I have been given through this Forum, again, such is most definitely not the case. I am extremely grateful, and appreciative, to all who have taken the time to share their opinions, and expertise, in response to my questions. I am, by nature, very compulsive, and can be
very repetitious. However, I never intentionally set out to be rude, or abusive. There's an old saying: "Only your best friends will tell you that you have BO." Thanks for taking the time to set me straight. I hope I can continue to be deserving of your kindness, generosity, and friendship!

Sincerely,

Tony,

When I read this post, I found myself looking at all your other posts to see what you were talking about. And while using caps doesn't particularly bother me, I did observe that you posted a lot of similar questions, but never went back to them for a follow up.
I can see your post at the top, then a string of other posts and suggestions, but you never re-appear.
While a generic "Thanks to all" as a separate post is nice, a follow up comment or interaction within a post makes others feel that you are actually reading their comments.
In that respect, you are not alone. There are others who do the same thing. For example, in your post entitled...."THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION" A good system for VV4 with a limited budget......I responded with a link to a long winded response to another poster I had made only days before. She had done the same thing. Posted the question which was followed by a string of answers and never followed up on it. I doubt she even read the responses. In the case of my response, I did quite a bit of research before I posted it. I am happy to do it for someone if I at least think they read it.

Tony,
I'll give you another accepted DO if you want.
It's always courteous to go back and thank the people that answered your posts. Especially if you're asking about suggestions to help solve a problem you're having.
I wasn't sure what you were talking about, so I checked your previous threads. It seems to me you ask alot of questions but don't bother to go back and check. If you do in fact go back to check if there are replies, leave a quick thanks or something. If your problem wasn't resolved, give more info to help get you more precise answers.

No need to thank me for this tip...it's a freebie. ;)

I do read every reply. Is this the way to reply back, and say thanks?

Tony,

Some people find it very rude(?) not to come back to your originale post and say "thanks for the help guys" while others, like me, we dont really care if you say thank you or not. Without being sure i would think that 80% ++ of the user in this forum would like to get a thank you aftert posting up their answer, especally if they have done a 10min +++ research for you.

but as i said i dont bother to wait for a thank you, as i find it very interesting just to look up the nformation for myself in the same shot. :)

BTW: With the possibility to get a crowd of people flying after me now...I dont like the forum-software, i think it could have been made much easier to to see if somebody reply to your own post.

I dont know if some of you guys is so old veterans, that you used those BBS in the olden days, before Internet was so big? Some of you will remember that many of those system was greeting you with how many unread msg, and where to find them.

Normally if you ask a question in the forum, and lots or even few people answer you, some people like myself i dont really bother to wait for a "Thank you" even i do research and post a link or come up with information

Please don't feel too old frank... remember tying into the net when it was all text, going throuh the local university as they had the only access within 100 miles... remember when you had to set your modem to the bbs before dialing in too, but then I remember when I could read key punch...

So anyway, don't feel too old.

I'll try my best to follow the guidelines, and advice you have given me with regard to the "Dos, and Don'ts" of this Forum. If I'm ever out of line, let me know, as you have already done!

Again, thank you all, very, very, much! ! !
