My VCD Wont Play in my Sony stand alone DVD Player

I have burned a Video CD using Video Factory. Although my dvd player supports dvd,vcd AND cd playback the player does not recognize the VCD I created. Is there any settings or something I should be doing to make it compatible.

Some Sonys will only read VCD on CD-RW media. You might go to www.vcdhelp.com and they have a list of common DVD players and their compatibility.

Check if you are creating SVCD. Some DVD players will read VCD but not SVCD.

How old is your player and what model is it? Mine sais it would play them too but I never got it to work until I bought a new one..

You have to try different media.... and different burn speeds....slower is sometimes better.

I have been to several posts on this issue, search ( the_ripper ).......Sony is the most fussy bottom line. I could spend a day posting why I think it is the case. They were also the LAST game in town to add mp3 music to the units...hmmmm, I think Sony may have reason huh? Pioneer and Daewoo both make players fro $90-$200 that will play about anything. the_ripper
