I installed the trial version of VEGAS Pro 22.0. Then once I've started it, I put in the unique code to enter the trial. But then I click start, it loads until video plug-in then it just closes. I have tried most of what I can, like re-installing, cleaning the directory, running it as admin and nothing seems to have worked for me.

It closes because it currently has an issue with one of the plugins you have installed..... If you have BorisFX or any Newbluefx plugin, Uninstall them and do a system restart, and see if Vegas now opens.... This way you can narrow down exactly which one is causing a problem for you.
BTW, Sony doesn't make VEGAS anymore, it's a Magix product now.
