Mysterious Freeze

Has anyone ever experienced the following. You are editing along, not a care in the world--lots of media on the time line, lots of moving stuff around--when all of a sudden--- TEMPORARY FREEZE. After a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes the program is once again usable (without rebooting or closing through Task Manager--I have Windows XP) Sometimes this occurs after performing a cut, adding an effect etc (no rhyme or reason.) I have pretty much configured my computer as per the Knowledge Base but still seem to have the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!! This is extremely frustrating as it wastes a lot of time...and we don't have a lot of that to waste when we're editing!
I use firewire hard drives and I've heard that may cause this "stutter/freeze" problem in VV3.
There was a post in this forum from a SF Tech Rep stating that this problem occurred in ACID4.0 but they corrected it.
The correction should be included in the next VV3 version.
I hope SF decideds to offer a PATCH FOR THIS PROBLEM...ASAP! Prior to a new version of VV3.

Thats interesting----maybe its a function of daisy chaining my fire wire drives? Could it have anything to do with my processer speed (1ghz) emmmmmmm?

It may just be the FW drive, daisy-chained or not. I had many of those freezes and switched the HD to a USB-2 enclosure. No more problems!

I sometimes experience this, and I have no firewire HDDs. Even when theres nothing connected to the firewire ports on my PC, I occasionally get the "mysterious freeze"
