Name in media pool

Hello,
Can I change the name shown in the media pool? I would like it to be a name choosen by the user instead of the name of the media file. Is this possible? My files are computer generated and are not meaningful at all for the user. I have tried to change the Comment field of the Media object but it didn't work (Is this field shown in any part of the UI?)

You can not change the name of media unless you do it by changing the file name... and when you do that after the media is used in a project, you may need to manually relink the media. You can change the comment with a script (Media objects have a Comment property). The comment can be seen in the Media Pool window if you choose the "Detailed" view option.
