Navigating chapters

I have just completed my first major project using DVD Architect 4.5 d (build 107).

Reasonably satisfied with the results but a couple of issues are less than pleasing.

The video consists of two 20-25 minute files. The main menu has three items.
1. Play the movie
2. Scene selection
3. Additional material

This works exactly as planned with both items 1 & 3 returning to the main menu as I wished. Selecting Scene selection also gives three options all selected from the first file.
1. Introduction
2. Main
3. Closing

Selecting any option goes to the correct start point but then plays through to the end before returning to the scene selection menu. I have played with all the end action options I can think of. Although I have tried others without success the set up for the scene selection sub clips is as follows:
o Command ink
o Destination Scene Selection (the name of the menu)
o Destination item Start
o Destination button Default

My second problem concerns the second video file. It was rendered with chapters, but they have not appeared in DVDA nor does the complied DVD see them.

I suspect something silly in both cases, can anyone help?

Thanks

this is the way the majority of commercial DVDs work. But you can trick it by setting up different timelines and setting in and out points. I believe this is covered under the HELP menu.

Thanks Dave T2 for your prompt reply. I looked up your suggestions in the HELP file. I need to do some more experiments to achieve my objectives.

In the meantime I have done some more work on the missing chapter markers. I’ve discovered that there is a “Load markers” button with the timeline. In my case it doesn’t work: it’s greyed out. Double checked with the file in Vegas Studio and the chapters are still there, so a simple workaround (for the benefit of others) goes like this.

In Vegas Studio make a note of the point on the timeline of each chapter marker. Then pull up the appropriate piece of video in DVD Architect; navigate to each time point; insert a new marker (press M), save your work and make a new DVD. It works, and the re-edit took 5 minutes.
