neat effect - how to do it in Vegas?

I don't find PTT clumsy, I find it completely out of place. :) It works great, can do a lot, but is completely different in UI & use vs Vegas.

The built in help menu just says how things work & how to use them, no practical examples what so ever (opposite of the Vegas help).

It's like VCR instructions.

What's a VCR? <grin>

For those of you who need a more "visual" tutorial, I just created one on YouTube. Remember to watch in 720 HD fullscreen:

Enjoy,

John, you rock! Thanks much, that's awesome.

One question. I see no grid lines or alignment tools. If we want to align two text blocks, do we just eyeball it?

Again, thanks much for sharing this.

Yes, unfortunately "eyeball it" is as accurate as it gets. There is no grid or snapping that I can see.

The biggest advantage to use PTT is that you can store entire animations as presets. This is sorely lacking in the rest of Vegas' plug-ins requiring you to reinvent the wheel every time you edit. If you regularly animate text with the Sony Text tool, you really should look into PTT.

Hi John,
That was an excellent tutorial, not just for its informational value but also the excellent production value, particularly the narration/audio quality. There are many free tutorials online but many are let down by the quality of the narration and audio issues.

Johnny, thank you, thank you, thank you!

If it were in my power I would nominate you for sainthood!

That took your time and effort and I truly appreciate it, as I'm sure many to come will, too.

P.S. I agree with Derm, very well done indeed. Had my life depended on me figuring out how to do that on my own, I would be a dead man! That tut explains a lot of things. Yes, PPT may be awkward, but having seen that example of how something is done makes it appear almost doable (speaking stricly for myself).

Your are both very welcome. I'm glad I could help out. Sometimes you just have to "see" how something is done and no amount of documentation can explain it. I'm a visual learner myself and I watch and buy a lot of video tutorials to come up to speed with new software quickly. I find for me it's the easiest way to learn.

I know Spot says this a lot but it's really true, Audio is 60%~70% of the Video experience and I try and make sure that I always get good audio. I appreciate that you noticed.

Thanks for the great video, i managed to do the typing text FX because of that! Now I have one question Johnny, I want to end the text with a blinking underscore. What is the best way? I tried using pro titler but it is so tedious as I have to keyframe step by step. Are we able to repeat the 1st two points (opacity) down the time line?

Do you mean an UNDERLINE or UNDERSCORE_UNDERSCORE ?

Make life easy, put it on another track and be done.

But 5 will get yah 10 that there IS a Control within PTT that'll do it for you too. Some manipulation of KFs and so on just for the UNDERSCORE character. ON/OFF for an UNDERLINE to blink, in PTT . . . ughhh . . . .

Oh right . . just re-read your UNSDERSCORE thing, bit like the end of a DOS application Blinker, cursor thingie in WordStar or Word Perfect . . - yeah, got it.
