Need 2 second pause time? Trying to make CD out of live recording

mhowes wrote on 10/18/1999, 1:12 PM
I'm starting to transfer some of the live bands that play
on the radio station I work at from DAT to CD.
After transfering and marking the tracks in CD Architect I
tried to burn the cd and I get the message.

Critical: Track 1 needs at least a 2 second pause time
prior to the start of the track

What does this mean?

the description doesn't help...
This warning may occur if you have changed emphasis flags
or copy-protect flags between tracks. You must have at
least 2 seconds of time between tracks if such a change is
made.

I have a Yamaha IDE 6202B burner

The bands in between song bander I put in between the
tracks. That is "pause time" correct? Sometimes I have up
to 20 seconds of this. Is this causing the problem?

thanks

I saw mention of a "g" update for CDA, but can't find it anywhere -
what's up with that? Is there a pointer here?

Also, my company was nice enough to purchase a new PC for me (550mhz
PIII), and purchased a Sony CRX100E drive CDRW (Spressa). The list
on the SF site doesn't mention this particular drive as being
compatible, but the Sony site says CDA supports it.

Can I assume I need the "g" update, or will "f" work. The box
arrives tomorrow and would love to know in advance - thanks!

Hello.

There was a problem with the updating from version 4.0f to 4.0g and
we had to take the update down to resolve this problem. Once it is
resolved, the 4.0G update will be back up and available on our
webpage.
Also, the 4.0G will support the Sony CRX100E drive.

Thanks.

Excellent - thank you for the quick response!!

Is there a work-around (patched dll or something) that can allow me
to work with CDA "f" now? I'm a hack and can make it work if you
give me the code. :-)

Thanks,

In case you haven't gotten a reply that helps you...

Yeah, you need the time at the beginning or the CD won't write. Just
give it the time it needs, right down to the hundredth of a second.

As for the time between tracks -- no problem! Remember, your CD can
be one long sound if you like. Just click on the wave form and press
the letter T, and make a track any where you want. That way, although
the CD can play from the beginning without pause, you can jump around
and listen to song beginnings if you like...
