Need EXE Help

I been given and executable (***.exe) video file of a photo montage...looks like Flash.

I need to either capture stills from the files, or somehow rip the photos from it. I'm assuming that it's video, so ripping the photos is probably not possible.

Is there a workflow that will get this ***.exe video to the Vegas timeline?

Thanks!

Not directly. You could use a screen recorder to either capture the whole video as it plays, or stills of the individual pictures. Then use these captured video/pictures in Vegas.

That's what I figured...and they said "this should be easy..."

Thanks!

If you find out what it actually (flash, power point, etc) is you may be able to download some software that will extract the images. Many times it's just an exe that displays data & the images are still in there, just converted to something besides a readable image file.

If they want it to be easy they should give you the original images.

I found a two step process that gives me what I want.

1. Extract files from the .exe with exe2swf.exe

2. Convert .swf to avi with Moyea SWF to Video Converter Pro

There may have been a cheaper way...but time is money. Thanks all!

If they want it to be easy they should give you the original images.

It’s hard without seeing the .exe file, but chances are they did, albeit unwittingly. Such .exe files typically include a video (.e.g. .swf) file in their resource segment, and if so opening the .exe in a resource editor (e.g., in MS Visual Studio) lets you save/export the video file anywhere on the system.

if you share the .exe file, we can take a better look and maybe extract the original images.

there's a lot of tools for a lot of possibilities.
