Need GPU advice

LISOLN wrote on 2/18/2023, 1:44 PM

Need GPU advice. My PC build so far is as follows:

  • Vegas Pro 20
  • Mainboard: Asus Prime Z790-P
  • RAM: 32 GB ram(DDR5-5600)
  • CPU: i7-10700k
  • PSU: 850W
  • Windows 11 Home
  • Vegas program installation is on a NVMe M.2 – 1TB
  • Media files are on another NVMe M.2-drive

I`ll mainly shoot and edit in 4K resolutions (3840 × 2160) – 25 fps. I'll use transitions, text and sound-files on the timeline.

I have not bought a new GPU yet. Would there be a significant difference between a Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 TI and a RTX 3060 TI for smooth editing/preview (and rendering time) in 4K with my PC. Or would an AMD RX 6700 XT/6800/6900 card be a better deal here?

Is your iGPU 630 usable in VPro 20 and did you install the latest driverversion gfx_win_101.2115 for it already?

I was not precise enough in the description above. My build is not finished yet, maybe try it in the end of next week. I will install all the latest drivers available.

I would stay with the RTX3070 Ti (Vegas seems to have some troubles with the 4070 Ti).

Hard to say- your Intel iGPU should be doing media decoding so the other GPU can handle timeline Fx. There is not much data yet on NVIDIA 4XXX cards and Vegas.

Here are results of a user benchmark that uses GPU-heavy FX: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b3ggVifKsuT-cp2kQHjum_KnQ4-2jBmUIvzmu7BQZ34/edit?usp=sharing

But I do not know, if that is a general issue with the 4070 Ti, or if it was a specific issue by this user.
