Need Hardware I/O Suggestions

Hello All, I was looking at www.blackmagic-design.com for an interface for a Win XP platform running Vegas Pro. Seems they do not provide drivers that support Vegas Pro 9. I saw a beta driver for Vegas 8.0b, but that probably will not work for version 9.

What are you using and recommend? I am not capturing HDV, but will in the very near future. I have been using a ADS Pyro A/V link, but am ready to move up to something that supports HDMI.

Thanks, Michael M

As far as I can tell BlackMagic drivers and Vegas have always been a match made in hell.

AFAIK, HDV capture is done over a simple firewire cable so any decent 1394 (firewire) adapter should do the trick for that.

For HDMI capture I guess the BMD Intensity card is the common choice but it sounds like a lot of trouble to use it directly with Vegas. I assume it's possible to use it with it's own software to capture outside of Vegas.

For professional I/O (Component and SDI) it seems like maybe AJA's Xena cards are working. At least I don't hear a lot of complaining like I do with the BMD cards. But maybe more people have bought the BMD Intensity cards and maybe that's why I hear more complaining?

No direct experience but this sort of response usually flushes a few people out of the grass.
