NEED HELP

OK....just finished rendering a project and I used batch render as it is supposed to save time.

It rendered two files (one mpeg-2 and one .ac3).

Problem:

In DVDA2, I can't get the audio and video together. Isn't DVDA2 supposed to link them based on file name? Should V5 have created a .dar file during the batch render because I don't see one. Only see the two files.

I can get the video in and the audio but it puts them as separate menu items. Can hear the audio fine but no video....can see the video fine but no audio track with it....

AAAAAHHHHHH

Open the video rack in DVDA (double click it). Then a property is available which allows you to browse for and select the audio for it.

DVDA should by default automatically find the associated audio with the video when you load it - so I am not sure what happened in your case (was it an identical file name (prior to the .ac3 anyway))?

Liam:

Just did what you suggested and it worked....I'm stumped as to why it would not link them without me telling it which audio file to use.

It named them the same in that they both started with Home_ what followed after that was a bit different (main concpets etc or Dolby Digital AC-3 etc)

First time I've used batch render.....ouch

[edit] Thanks for such a quick response by the way....

What the Batch Render script does is name the files in the form

Filename_TemplateName.ext

That is the problem

For DVDA to link files automatically they need to be the <exact> same name prior to the file extension.

E.g.

Home.mpg
Home.ac3

There is some other script out there which will render to MPEG and .AC3 with the correct file names.... er... not sure which it is exactly as I tend to do it manually as I often tweak the MPEG template I use anyway.

Ahh..Thanks again.....

Any upside to batch rendering in light of that? Is it only faster in that it renders both files for you automatically?

The multi render tool in the Veggie toolkit is much better, you can specify the file output file name, template and region etc.
I make a LOT of use of it as I do lots of conversions to DVD. Nothing actually happens any faster, just means the PC can work away while I sleep.

Bob,

Is the toolkit part of Ultimate S?

Nope... it is a seperate tool and I rate it VERY highly - and I use it very frequently (I don't know WHY I didn't mentiion it before)

You can find out more from Peach Rock
