I have had a very frustrating problem ever since using the Canon XM-2 and Vegas 4 that is related to the video capture. When capturing, I seem to get random coloured "squares" about 10 pixels in size, appearing and corrupting my captured footage. There seems no rhyme or reason for this problem as this corruption is not on the original footage. The squares pop up maybe every 10 seconds , sometimes every 30 secs or so...only for a frame each, sometimes there are a few on the screen, though usually 1 or two.
As I have usually done short films or music videos, it has no been too problematic, as I have been able to paint out the offending frames or just get creative with edits. But with a wedding video I just cannot get away with those tricks! Also, I once used a Sony VX-2000 with Vegas 3, and that is about the only time that I have never gotten any of these sort of problems , so not sure if it is a Canon related problem?
Although I know Vegas like the back of my hand and love using it, I may have to go back to Premiere (shudder at the thought) if I can't get to root of these problems. If I had a DV deck to feed into Vegas, maybe it would give me a cleaner capture?
If anyone can give me any insight it this, I would be most grateful!!!!!!
By the way I am using Vegas 4c on a win2000 system (but have had same problems on a Win98se system). The hard drive I am capturing to is a brand new 80G 7200rpm drive that is almost totally empty. On this particular job, the wedding was shot on a JVC
DY-D700WE and feeding it in using my Canon XM-2.
