NEED HELP !! My VEGAS 20 is Crashing In Every 3 - 5 Minute.

finally iEmby answered what his GPU is in the last screenshot.

It's a Radeon RX560 which apparently launched in 2017. @iEmby How much Vram does it have? 4GB? It appears to meet VEGAS specs by having VCE 3.0.

IEmby, I would download a recent Adrenalin or Pro driver here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-500-series/radeon-rx-500-series/radeon-rx-560

First delete all AMD drivers first with Display Driver Uninstaller as you are clearly having GPU problems. Then install the newly downloaded driver.

Thanks. Not here to duplicate anyone's work but you hadn't posted by the time I started reading up on the RX560 and began to put together these links. Once you load a thread the forum doesn't update in realtime.

@iEmby, look at the fault description on why Vegas crashed. It has nothing to do with Vegas, but

Fault Module Name:    amdocl64.dll

That is causing Vegas to crash. I asked a long time ago what was your AMD graphics driver version, and you have yet answered that question.

But in the meantime, use DDU to uninstall your graphics driver, download the latest AMD Drivers, and then report back. Questions are asked to help you. You need to answer them. You never know who might have a solution....

Sorry, @RogerS beat me to it. And what he is saying (along with others) is to update your graphics driver, not your graphics card.

r u saying i need to upgrade my Graphics card?

Where did you read that? I stated

To my opinion, the Radeon RX560 mit 4GB ram is at the minimum spec, the 4GB ram are at the specification. And it seems to support vce 3.0, at least according to this link here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Coding_Engine

So I would check the driver for this card too.

vce3 is required by Vegas, and 4GB ram are enough for 4K (as long as you do not use ACES or grade for HDR).

So I said on the last page, that you should have a look to the AMD driver.

@RogerS

@Reyfox

@Wolfgang S.

I am sorry gentlemen for any confusion.

as i follows you guys words. I understand my GPU is not bad enough for what I often do.

My Graphics card is

it supports vce 2.0 not 3.0 so according to that you can tell me.

and one thing more.

from how long i uninstall Boris Sapphire Plugins, there are very less crashes. Only 10% from before.

and please tell me now I upgraded my RAM to 32 gb so should I expand my dynamic ram preview to 25% or more or it should remain same as default 5%.

Rest of all i follows ur words and uninstall drivers using DDU and reinstall latest GPU drivers.

now crashes are very low but not eliminated.

For your GPU, try GPU-Z instead of CPU-Z. Can you confirm which VCE it supports?

I have 64GB of ram myself and keep dynamic ram preview on 5%. It doesn't matter for crashes. If you make ram previews (I use them to test transitions) you can increase the amount if you need to. 25% is likely unnecessary.

Wolfgang S. wrote on 7/30/2023, 9:40 AM

I am unsecure - vce 3 is required by Vegas, and the Wikipedia sources state that your card runs vce 3. If Wikipedia is wrong and the card supports only vce 2, then this would not be enough for Vegas. Funny that the AMD specification is unclear about that.

The RX560 supports Video Compression Engine: 3.4.

I'd uninstall the drivers with DDU and reinstall them to see if that helps.

Render first part before the frame you crash, screenshot preview fullscreen (at best preview settings) the frame that crashes (Might wanna do it before VEGAS Crashes after a few minutes), Render the last part or second part (before the next crash or if it goes all the way to the end). [Repeat step 1 and 2 if it crashes again at the end] [If you're able to render the final part then you're all set]

Open a new project, import both videos and the screenshot where Vegas crashes, continue editing.

Sometimes you get a bad frame where VEGAS is unable to process it and ends up crashing.

That's my tip at least for stuff like this that happens.

You do have not that much memory so might wanna keep media files to a low amount otherwise you'll not only take longer to load, it'll use more memory, and you're prone to crashing more often.

Also as people said before, update your drivers. They'll be in Windows updates as well as in Optional Updates under advanced settings where Windows Updates are, and for Graphics Cards in either GeForce Experience or AMD Radeon Settings (AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition)

i found the solution for this. i change my auto proxy conversion resolution to 3000 x 2000 which will convert my 4k videos into working video files. And also i compress my images upto resolution 2000 x 2000. Now these both changes makes my vegas more stable now.

thanks everyone for all your suggestions.
