Need Mpeg import help

I have one of the first versions of the Sony HDD camcorder called SR100. When I import my mpegs into Vegas 8 via the explorer, I don't see all of the audio channels on the time line. When I had the non professional version of Vegas 7 Studio, I would see all of the surround sound channels and I had the choice of muting them.

Shouldn't I be seeing all of the audio channels?

Vegas 8 Pro (is that what you have?) added a option under the File - Import command called "Hard Disk Recording Unit".
Have you tried doing it this way?

That may work for any new videos I record. But over the last 2 years, I have been downloading them off of my HDD camcorder and storing them on my two external hard-drives.

So, importing the video from my camcorder is not an option for all of my old mpegs.

Check you project settings before you try and import.!

If you are set to stereo, then teh surround channels will not appear. IF you are set to surround, then they should. The same is true for modern cameras and .mts stuff hot off the press.

My project was set to "stereo" as you mentioned. I guess I assumed when I copied the video template from my mpeg file that the audio would be set to match.

I'll save this setting so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I love this forum because everyone responds so quickly.

Thanks Kenny.
