Need some help getting started!

I've just bought VPPA, as I have a project where I shall soon need to render many files to many different formats.

I'm sure it's the right tool for the job, but after opening it, there's no obvious way to specify which source files to input, and which formats/templates to output. I tried adding a few files, clicked Add, and V9 opened with one and a half of the six files on a timeline, with an opening Title and credits afterwards - all very confusing!

I've read about Tutorials, but haven't found these yet.

edit: here's the screen I get when I open:

Assistance appreciated ...

Ah! There they are! Thanks so much Ottor. As you may imagine, those tutes make quite a difference!

I know I'm a little late to the party, but congratulations on a fantastic tool, JR.

Glad you found the tutes... ;-) The confusion comes from the fact the Vegas Pro Production Assistant is multiple tools in one. The desktop launcher is for the automated creation of projects based on templates. The batch render tool is invoked from within Vegas Pro but it's more than just batch render... it's batch processing because you can process the video in several ways before you render to multiple formats. Then there is a collection of interactive tools taken from Ultimate S Pro including the photo montage, motion photo, and lower thirds tool. So it packs quite a bit of functionality into the tool.

Thanks Peter. If you have any ideas for version 2 just let me know. We're always lookin' to make the next version even better.

Hi Johhny. I'm in the middle of a long session with PA, and I do have an idea for a new feature.

I'm rendering from several source folders, one for each subject (person) and the resulting rendered files are for two purposes, DVD and Web.

At present, to render all in one session, the rendered files all have to be sent to a single target folder. I will then have to move them into separate folders, firstly for each subject/person, then within their folder, into separate folders for DVD and Web.

It would be great to be able to specify different target folders at the outset, so that this step in the process is removed.

Be interested to hear if this is possible.

Thanks

Peter

Well... as you may know... it's all 1's and 0's inside... the trick is arranging them in the correct order. ;-)

This seams reasonable and has been requested before. I've got it on my list of feature requests. Thanks for the feedback.
