Needed DVD Face printer . . but . .

Very aggravating and very costly and very time-consuming when you are trying to meet a deadline.

You are right John - I have an R800 too besides my 2 Canon, and it takes time to clean - it's like spring-cleaning 6 times a year :-)

I buy some good, cheap compatible cartridges, but it is still a waste.

I am mostly satisfied with my Epson disc printers. A couple f things that I've learned:
1) Turn the printer off using the power button. Do NOT kill it with a power strip or leave it on 24/7. Reason - when you power off using the power button the printer parks the heads on a cleaning pad. This prevents the ink from drying out in the air, which is what happened when you just pull the plug. Or leave it on all the time.
2) If your printer DVD tray has a thin, flexible plastic strip on the end of it (about 1/2 inch wide), your tray *will jam*. Epson fixed it in later models, and you can buy after-market trays for $10 on e-Bay.

Following those two "rules", I have not had a head clog or jammed DVD and I use the ink until the printer drains them dry.

Thanks Steve:

1) Nowadays I use any power button I can get my hands on. But thanks for the reasoning behind the one on the Epo.

2) Nope. No flexible strip on mine. But good to know.
