Nero fails burning DL discs since installing DVDA

It could be a coincidence but suddenly (using same media) Nero is reporting a Power Calibration Error when attempting to burn the 2nd layer.

I have the SONY AW-G170A OEM version DVD RW. SONY have sent me a Firmware upgrade (AWG170A_172.exe) which fails and just hangs as does the latest version from their website (AWG170A_173.exe).

Are there any known issues with Nero7.10 and DVDA4.5?

Cheers

You might try ImgBurn...

"Are there any known issues with Nero7.10"

I've never read anyone saying it was great for DL -- personally I've never tried it for anything but SL.

RE: DVDA, I've never heard of it causing problems for other burn software. I have heard of different burning programs installing drivers that conflicted, but AFAIK ImgBurn & DVDA are pretty much self contained.

OTOH I'd imagine a failed firmware flash might cause problems... Maybe it didn't take because there was another drive plugged in on that buss? I know my LG has to be by its lonesome in order to flash the drive. Might also check out MediaCodeSpeedEdit -- you can get it over at videohelp.com -- it might have firmware available and at the same time get rid of the copy speed restriction.
