Nesting

I've never used Vegas' Nesting...

This video is perhaps an age-old hackneyed idea of the bouncing ball on Karaoke-style music lyrics. Don't pay too close attention to the animation - it's just an experiment.

First, I created a single track with a gradient solid on it (white-red-black, ellipse shape) and then used the Pan&Crop tool to create a 'ball.' I then selected the event and created a Nested Timeline.

Using the buttons at the bottom, I opened the newly created nested event for editing and added Track Motion for the vertical movement. Then clicked the button to go back to parent and added horizontal movement also using Track Motion.

That's basically it...

For more information on Nested Timelines check out the help file.

Here's the main timeline...

As you can see by Nesting it's possible to loop the event as if it's a separate video.

Second Project...

Here I've nested one of my checkerboard experiments along with wave to create a couple of waving lines. I've noticed that all media used in parent and child 'nestings' is shown in the parent project - which is great if you're working with proxies you can just swap them all out from there and render! But is there a way to edit generated media from the bin view without having to go the actual clip on the track? I've not found it yet...

And the project screenshot...

Third Project...

This uses Pan&Crop masking to get the 'electron' to disappear behind the 'atom.' Electron movement is in Nested Timeline layer using Parent & Child Track motions for horizontal and vertical placement.

All basic stuff - I suppose!

Just a quick play...

Revisiting first experiment to see if better animation can be achieved... Everything is re-timed and added motion blur, but is it better I wonder ???

@Selina As it seems that you like being creative with titles and (3D) graphics, take a close look at https://www.outerspace-software.com/blufftitler. A quite cheap program to create stunning effects, intros etc with far far more possibilities than that what Vegas offers. The results are quite realistic, rendered very fast and can be used as overlays in Vegas.

@3POINT thanks... I'm already very familiar with that programme - I'm just seeing what I can do with Vegas Pro.

A quick example of BluffTitler's recently added 'Jumble.cfx' using a cube created and cut up in Blender. 😉
