net render EULA

I am trying to do a network render. When I do, I get the following message in my log on the editor side:

Error: Render job 'bryan.agstme.adelphia.net:53704/1' failed: EULA was violated by tcp://ibm-iru2zqwnepl.agstme.adelphia.net:53704/NetRenderService.rem.

I have two systems running Vegas 5.0b and that is all. What can I do to overcome this error??

thanks
Bryan

EULA = End User License Agreement

You must only install the FULL version (V5 + Network Render) on one computer. On the other computer you must only install the network render service.

It is complaining that both of your machines have the full version.

This is definitely a problem for most of us who have a laptop and a desktop machine.. where you would like to be able to use the laptop while away for doing editing and while in the office use the desktop for editing and the laptop to help with rendering. Unfortunately You cannot do that.

With V4 you were allowed to have your one copy of Vegas installed on laptop and desktop (as long as you did not use both at the same time).

Actually, if you have 5.0B, you must install the FULL version on both machines, and you must then register using the same serial number and user information on both machines. This is a change from the earlier 5.x versions of the product. These earlier versions work as described by Liam.

Yoiu know... I thought that 5.0b did something different here... BUT... as bwells described he had 5.0b I thought maybe it didn't work that way.

I have not yet upgraded to 5.0b (due to issues with MPEG templates)... but maybe I should.

Yes, 5.0b allows full versions on up to 3 machines. There is not even a choice to install a network-only version of Vegas.

Note: You cannot render to MPEG with network rendering, because that is a violation of the MainConcept EULA. I'm not sure if this is your problem, but you will get a EULA violation if you try to do so. Instead, you can tell Vegas to render the intermediate files to AVI, then render the final to MPEG on your stitch host. There's a setting somewhere on the net rendering screen that allows you to control to the format of the intermediate files. By default, they will be the same as the output, in this case MPEG. But that would violate the EULA, so change it to AVI. This means the compositing and everything is done in small distributed segments and the outputs are sent back as small AVI files to the stitch host. Then, the stitch host will combine them into one big final output all by itself. If you use this trick, the stitch host will also render from AVI to MPEG when it does the recombination. So, you don't have to do 2 separate renders, you just have to set some settings.

Bryan,
Also, in case you are running 5.0b TRIAL, I'm pretty sure network rendering is not available in the trial edition, only the full edition.
