i finally got the network working between my xp system and my w98 system. i'm using my w98 system to store final edit avi files until i get a back up drive for my xp system. most of the files transfered fine, but i'm having trouble with 2 of them. one of them only transfers 100k of 4 gigs. it does that consistently. the other one triggers an error saying "the parameter is incorrect".

Use TCP/IP only. netbui and other methods are not as reliable for large file transfers.

Buy a drive caddie and swap drives. 40 gig drive is under 50 dollars. 20 dollar caddies. Save you a lot of time. Shut down/ swap/ reboot/done- 4minutes. A lot faster and cleaner than a network for large files like you described.

Just a thought,

Hi Statas,

Are you maybe reaching the FAT32 4GB filesize limit? (win98)
