I have seen some of the posts regarding attempts to network encode (render) MPEG2. Notably PJM's post on the 2 step process (network render the AVI then encode). That seems like a reasonable solution, but is not very efficient in terms of disk space. I have seen other posts that claim that the only way to get network encoding to work is to buy another separate copy of Vegas. Has anyone actually done this? Is there a license that can be purchased to allow network MPEG2 encoding? Is so what is the price?
In a related question, how does Vegas handle MPEG2 encoding directly from the timeline? Is the video rendered to AVI then encoded on the fly, or are temporary files used?
Thanks,
Jerry
