network render problem

Hello all

I have just installed a copy of Vegas and .NET and am tryign to get a network render set up. I am trying the simplest cases where I dont actually use any other computer except mine and use the network render client on it.
In the netwrok render client I have put local host under renderers so that it renders using this computer.
When I do render as and network render I get the following error in the log

Log: Loaded Settings File: D:\Documents and Settings\GBJonesRic\Application Data\Sony\Vegas\5.0\VegSrv.settings
Log: Starting Vegas Remote Render Service: (tcp://gbsissbbpld100.eu.sony.com:53704/NetRenderService.rem)
Label: Beginning Render Job: V:\Untitled.avi
Error: System.InvalidOperationException: Process performance counter is disabled, so the requested operation cannot be performed.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of this and fix the problem?

Thanks

Richard

You don't need to setup ANY network render host if you are simply rendering on the local computer with the network rendering service. You only need to add remote PC's into the render hosts.

Thanks Liam-Vegas. I'm going to have another bash at it today so will let you know if I fix it

And... just a quick "helper"...

You only need add the network renderer details in the "master" renderer (the machine on which you initiate the rendering). On all other rendering boxes you don;t need to list any renderers at all (these render boxes will get told what to do by your master rendering machine).

You only need to physically list the shared drive mappings on your master rendering host. The other renderers will be "told" what these drive mappings are when rendering commences. (You still need to make sure your other rendering boxes can "see" the remote shared folders).

Those two points are not totally clear (IMO) in the documentation.. and I spent a little while trying to figure out how to setup each of the network rendering PC's before I figured out what I shared above.

Hope that helps.

Hello

Thanks for the reply. It clears some stuff up!
When I put nothing as the network render host it still didnt work.
Let me explain my process

1) open networker renderere
2) open vegas
3) click render as and select network render
4) tried both setting and unsetting distribute render
5) click render...

And I still seem to get the same error. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Richard

Also the media is still queued. It has not failed as happens sometimes. Vegas is queueing the media!
