Network Rendering Problem

I have 2 computers connected through a netgear gigabit router and a my cable router is connected to my gigabit router also (so both my computers can access the internet). I can't network render when the cable router is turned on. I'm assuming it's because when the cable router is turned on, it changes my DNS suffix. I tried changing my DNS suffix on my computers to match the DNS suffix that I get from running the ipconfig (when my router is turned on) but it doesn't work. When I open up the network render utility, the computers can't connect with eachother, even though the DNS suffix is correct. But as soon as I turn off the router, I can network render. When my router is turned on, my DNS suffix changes to a comcast address because that's my internet provider. Is this an invalid address for network rendering? Is there anyway around this?

Thanks
-Jim

Update: Now that I've upgraded to 6.0c, the render hosts are detected, instead of saying "unavailable". But even though they are detected and the status says "ready", I can't get the job to start, it just says "queued". The only way to get the render hosts to be recognized is by deleting my DNS suffix completely from my computer. If I put the proper DNS suffix in the computer name, the render host status just says "unavailable". Can anyone help me?
