On your harddrive, wherever it's convenient. It doesn't matter much where, as long as you remember where you put them. Maybe C:\My Documents\ would work.

That is fine, but how do I get Vegas Video to recognize them? I already have 3D LE installed but have no idea how to get to the .veg files.

Previous record path D:\Vegas\Media\ not found. New record path is C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Vegas 3.0Previous preview path D:\Vegas\Media\ not found. New preview path is C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Vegas 3.0
This is what I get when I double click on the Veg file.

Also, it only shows up as a color gradient when I click on any of the veg files

Add my voice to the chorus of praise. Kudos for a cool little plug in offered for free. I'll use it and think of you. Look forward to more...

"It's nice and all but it does not seem to give a rats ass about interlacing. So in order to get good quality i have to "Reduce Interlace Flicker"....."

It seemed to be doing interlacing just fine when I tried it. Actually, Vegas does the field rendering and interlacing, but there is some plug-in interaction because it needs to tell Vegas that it's moving stuff around (as opposed to just affecting pixels in-place), but it appears to be doing that.

Could you describe your test scenario a little more?

Satish, How about a caption plugin with built-in transitions? The vv text generator can be use do to do captions, but not without some pain, especially when you have a lot of information to show at the bottome of your screen.

Thanks! A very useful and much needed plug-in.

how is this thing different than the SF pan and crop? i messed with it a bit, but cant see where it is "3D".
jetdv wrote on 11/13/2002, 10:57 AM
Did you rotate on X, Y, or Z???? Then you'll see 3D.
satish wrote on 11/13/2002, 11:11 AM
Many users have asked for a caption/text plugin. I'll add it to the list.

Thanks

Well, I’ve tested it a bit and the problem seems to be that I'm in the world of PAL and 3D LE simply does not seem to handle PAL very well. I've tried to render my PAL video to NTSC and the artifacts are gone. What a shame because it's a really nice plug in... maybe a bug fix is on the way... satish?

SonicDennis, do you have any thoughts about this? What should the plugin do to handle PAL correctly?

I think He means 3D as in thickness and depth of His rotated Image.
Your Image can move in 3directions. It will not make a back, and sides to the front of your image. That would be magic or a lot of work.

one thing i noticed....

is there a way to make effects "STICK" to the video? for instance, i had a clip rotating, and it had the film effects plug-in (scratches, jumps, dirt, hair) assigned to it. but, the effect wasn't "sticking" to the video. as the video rotated, the film effects stayed right where they normally would.

how can i explain clearer?? hmmm.... the film effect WAS there, and it was only on the video it was assigned onto. but, the effect wasn't attached to the movement of the video as it rotated.

make sense?

BTW- AWESOME PLUGIN!!!

in response to satish's request for plug-in ideas. here are a couple.

1. rotoscoping or painting onto video.

2. squash-n-stretch effects would be cool (maybe with biezer curves?)

Apply the film effect before 3D LE in the chain. That way, the 3D rotation/movement will take the film-FX-applied-video and work on it.

I think you can just reverse the order of effects in the FX chain. You probably had 3D LE, followed by Film Effects. In the FX tab, if you drag the Film Effects "button" to the left of 3D LE "button", it should snap into place there, and I think you'll get the effect you want.

I would expect VV to handle this sort of things internally. Why should one be worried about what resolution or frame rate the users of VV prefer to use, when writing a plug-in?
But then again, I don’t know the slightest thing about programming. But tell me; am I wrong?
