New Blue FX Not Able To Register

datrix wrote on 5/4/2010, 6:04 PM
I just upgraded from Vegas Movie Studio Plat 7.0 to 9.0. I notice that now my 'New Blue FX' plugs have the watermark. I viewed the help page for 'removing the watermark' with the registration number.
Unfortunatley there isn't any registration box to enter any info as the help pic shows, mine just displays the 'New Blue FX' logo, version 1.0 , copyright 2005. 2006 & options / tick box for ' Up/Down mouse control of circular knobs'
What could be the problem-Any suggestions?
Thanks

Are these vms 7 bundled effects?

Or are these vms 9 bundled effects?

Or some other product?

Without knowing what product you're referring to, it's difficult to answer questions such as these.

It's the bundle that came with Vegas 7plat.
newbluevideofxmsp10b.exe
I entered the registration number when installing the exe..
There isn't a registration box in the 'i' section of NewBlue FX as stated in the online help.

Doesn't this bundle apply to or work correctly using the upgraded version to vms9?

install vms7
then install the fx bundle
then in stall vms9

should work

Does that mean you can install directly over v7 with v9?
I rather do fresh installs of latest versions especially with w7 x64.

vms7 and vms9 will co-exist. You'll be able to run EITHER of them but the bundled effect from vms7 will then run in both. You don't need to start vms7 ever again but it DOES need to be installed.

That's unfortunate especially when I'm sure v7 will eventually be unusable on future os releases. To me it pretty much makes this NewBlue freebie bundle obsolete.
Thanks for the help.

It doesn't have to be "usable" .. it's just needs to be able to be installed. There is a distinction between the two states. Yes, eventually it is possilbe that it will balk at the install level but, to me anyway, it seems a long way away.

I know it doesn't but I don't like installing old versions of the same software along with or on top of newer ones.
I just installed 9 on a new computer. if this was my previous one I'd install v7 with it, not sure now.
Thanks

....but I don't like installing old versions of the same software along with or on top of newer ones.

Sounds like you may have had a problem with other software in the past. There are *many* folks here who have multiple installs of different versions of Vegas with no problems at all.

It's up to you, but I can't see you have a valid complaint for NewBlue FX not working in a different version of Vegas. You can, of course, go to the NewBlue site and purchase direct from there and those items should not be tied to a specific version of Vegas.

Well I tried installing v7 & when it gets to' the following components need to be installed' MS.Net Framework 1.1 & Service Pack 1.1 it completely hangs the installation..

Win7x86/ Intel i7 920 @ 3.2GHz/ 12 GB DDR3 1600MHz
Nvidia dual dvi video w/512MB

Received this from customer support: about MS.Net 1.1 & the hanging installation of vms7 on Windows 7 32b.

"These components are Microsoft components, they are required to be installed in order to install the Vegas software. It appears that the required components are not supported in your operating system.

Also, Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 7.0 would not be supported on Windows 7. I would contact New Blue directly if you are having problems removing the water mark to ensure they support the effects package from Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 7.0 in your operating system."

I contacted New Blue & they informed that the bundle registration only works with vms7 installed.
As far as I'm concerned vms7/ New Blue FX bundle package I purchased is now obsolete.

One more thing, in your OP, you didn't include your OS. You stated you 'upgraded form vms7 to vms9'. I logically concluded you were working under XP....
Always mention your OS when posting on a forum like this. You would have gotten the correct answer much sooner...
datrix wrote on 5/8/2010, 7:41 AM
No, you're right. I never mentioned XP. My setup is in my user system specs info & in one of the above posts.
I also wrongly concluded that most people were using Win7 for video these days & not xp.
Doesn't matter though, you still need to install vms7 to be able to remove the watermarks in vms9.
That's for any os including xp.
I'll remember to post my specs in the message next time, sorry for the confusion.
