New Blue Titler Pro VPro11

Merlin711 wrote on 12/11/2011, 8:43 AM
Have VP 11 424 plus NB Titler Pro. I also have up to date every NewBlue Transition, FX effects and other plug-ins installed prior to VP 11 install. NBTitler did not pick up any of the plug-ins within the effects/transitions tabs. Just the standard starter pack

How do I get them in there as they show in the tutorials?

All of the NewBlue products are being updated to version 3.0. Once these versions are released, you will be able to install these into Titler Pro as well as Vegas and other NLEs. Motion Effects and Motion Blends are already available via a special offer through Sony. Soon some other packages will be released.

If you already own the products, you will be able to upgrade to the 3.0 versions for a small upgrade fee.

I own most of the NewBlue FX transitions and effects, and all of my plugins say they are version 1.4 and when I try to click on Check For Updates I get a message saying something about cannot connect to server.

When I go to the NewBlue website, and check under updates, there are NO version numbers given. So how can you tell? Is there a version 2.0 for all these plugins that I'm missing?

Probably questions better asked on the NewBlue website, but since you brought it up..... ;-)

Version 1.4 *IS* the current version. However, the "Check For Updates" option should be working. Some of the products were already at version 2.4 (i.e. Motion Effects/Blends and Art Effects/Blends) so we though it would be better if everything got updated to 3.0 with this update to support Titler and GPUs.

"Check For Updates" has never worked on any of the workstations I've been on.

I too saw the NewBlue FX showing in the NBTP in a tutorial video. Naturally, I long for mine to be there also. Unfortunately, I did not see an eMail from Sony so I guess I have to wait and pull out the old wallet once again just to be sure it not only registers in Vegas but also Premiere, Avid, & TestHost.

Title/Action Safe Areas
- How else are we gonna know if we won't get cut off?
especially if we're animating text & other elements.

Alignment Tools
- Align relative to safe areas
- Align Center, Top, Bottom, etc relative to selected media
currently you have to keep going back and forth to Position X, Y, Z and copying

Replace Asset
- Applying a new image as a Texture does not maintain correct Aspect Ratio if they are different.

GUI
- Ability to view the timeline's current frame in NBTP
- Ability to rename Layers or inherit names from files.
instead of renaming under the Style tab, why not be able to rename layers on the timeline where they are more visible?
- Library > Get More...
Waste of space & misleading if there's nothing more to get that will be recognized by NBTP

Stand Alone
- Double-click to open a saved .nbtitle in NBTP
I have to open NBTP then go File > Open

NBTP
- Speed the dang thang up!
After Effects, Boris RED, Blufftitler, ProAnimator, BCC Extruded Text... all seem to run quicker/smoother.
- Having to restart Premiere to update the length of the title is ridiculous.
can't remember if some of the other things I mentioned pertain to other NLE's

Website
- Let us know when to expect a v3 of plugins with NBTP recognition... I think I'm at v1, v1.4, & 2.4.
not just for an individual NLE but for Windows/Mac

Keep up the good work. Competition breeds better quality and pricing.

Thank you for these comments. We'll certainly look over each and every one. I do know Title/Action safe areas has been discussed and is on the list of things to be added.

As for "Stand Alone" - there is currently no standalone version of Titler. I realize the first build of Titler included the "Test Host" app which we used for internal testing. This has not been included in subsequent releases and is not a "standalone" version.

As for the version 3.0 plugins, these are not listed on our website because:
1. Not all products are currently update.
2. Not all supported NLE's are currently implemented

Instead, you need to use the link provided by Sony:

My Titler Pro is v1.0 build 120111:
(TitleHost, Vegas, & Premiere)

Looks like Check for Updates worked but it says "You have the most current version."

I have downloaded from both:
http://www.newbluefx.com/downloads.html

There doesn't even seem to be any mention on the NewBlue site as to what the current version/build is.
I guess I'm supposed to download it everyday and hope it is finally the most current version/build.

Why would you guys ever get rid of TitleHost?
It can be used to create and save a Title Template that can be opened/used in any of the supported NLE's. Very effective if there is a problem with the NLE.

In my experience:
- TitleHost can be a bit more stable then NBTP via NLE.
- TitleHost opens faster than the NLE.

In short, I'm glad to finally have gotten NBTP working as I struggled with getting it to work on my system. As I am trying to embrace it and learn its quirks, I hate to think that the workflow I've found to work is supposed to be gone away.

I would just LOVE to see the aforementioned requests implemented.
Right now it feels like it was built by programmers without editors. Or, at least, editors that have used other tool sets.

btw:
The sony link given is to Buy NOT Try so if you're not sure GPU Acceleration works for you... you may want to wait a while.

Will the GPU accelerated versions also work on non GPU Accelerated workstations?
(such as those that get the limited GPU message in NBTP)
jetdv wrote on 1/24/2012, 8:32 AM
Build 120111 is correct for the "TitlerForWindows" build and is newer than the "TitlerForVegas" build. That version will install for multiple NLE's.

"Check For Updates" should properly work to tell you when a new version is released. You ARE on the current version so the "You have the most current version" message is correct.

TestHost was exactly what the name implies - a TEST program used only for testing purposes. Maybe in the future we'll release a standalone version but that was not the purpose of "TestHost". I will mention your use of TestHost, though, and see what everyone has to say about it.

The new 3.0 versions of the plugins will work with GPU support, without GPU support, and will be available inside of Titler Pro. I can certainly provide a link to download a trial version to anyone who requests through support -at- newblueinc

My version is build 111115 and the update check also says this would be the most current version. Can this be correct?
jetdv wrote on 1/25/2012, 10:38 AM
Build 111115 was a test logged build of TitlerProForWindows - not TitlerProForVegas so it definitely would not pick up the "TitlerProForVegas" update. If you download TitlerProForVegas from newbluefx.com/so/sonytitlerpro you will download build 111213.

Finally got it. Thanks!

The NewBlueFX website isn't very helpful indeed. It's very hard to find what you're looking for in some cases.

Any chance to get that quality issue around rounding in letters like "o" fixed? Not sure if this is simply aliasing. If you use very large font sizes and even scale it bit further you won't have round edges but corners instead.

Yes, that is certainly on the list of things to be improved.
WillemT wrote on 1/25/2012, 2:09 PM
jetdv. While you are at it, how about a kerning check box to use the fonts' build-in kerning data (on by default). Then a custom kerning slider along with the current tracking (wrongly called kerning) option - currently used to do a pseudo type kerning.

The ProType Titler as well as the BCC titlers do that correctly. The legacy Text generator adds the kerning correctly (unfortunately off by default) but cannot be customised - which is OK most of the time.

Oh, by the way, it would be nice if the text could also remember the font and other settings when you change the color.

Apart from that I think NBTP has some really nice features.

EDIT. One problem I have is adding a proper shadow. It seems to use the actual character size ignoring any additional outlines etc. I currently use the BCC Drop Shadow to add any if I require it.

Thanks for the comments. I have passed them on.

Hey jetdv, sorry for the unrelatedness of the post, but I do have an excalibur question, I tried using excalibur the other day with vegas 11, most things I tried worked perfectly, but... the mulitcam, sync media did not do anything, I did check the website and read of others having similar issues... Any updates on that front?
jetdv wrote on 1/27/2012, 1:02 PM
Apply this little patch:

Fixed. Sweet. Thanks so much.

Now, how's about a Titler Pro patch to hook up all the things pointed out in this thread?
jetdv wrote on 1/28/2012, 8:33 AM
Titler Pro is being worked on every day. I can't say that everything in this thread will be in the next release but everything has been taken under consideration.

Automatically Update Image
So, NBTP does NOT update your image if you make a change to it in Photoshop then re-save?

Frustrating after you've created an animated title, change a graphic, and re-save hoping to see it updated in your NBTP title sequence.

Workaround: I've found that I have to save it as another name, because if I save it as the same name it reverts to the old image as if it's cached or something, then apply it as a Texture so as not to kill all my animation.
(workarounds suck!)
