New Budget Computer

Ok, my 7 year old AMD 6 core machine is dying. But as luck has it I have a pretty limited budget to replace it with.

This is the machine that just fits my budget and my CFO says that is the limit ($1600). I do mainly 4K videos that are less than 3 minutes and have been use proxies for editing. Anyone know of anything better for this price?

I can't speak to the computer vendor, but that's a lot of computer for the money :-) And it has the RX480 GPU that will play nice with Vegas.

I spec'd basically the same system at iBuyPower and it comes out to around the same price. Of course, doing the specs yourself allows you to tweak as needed. For example I spec'd Windows 10 Pro instead of Home and it only added $32 to the overall cost. The price ended up at $1576.

My last 4 computers have come from CyberPower...no complaints. Excellent customer service.

Agree on Window 10 Pro in lieu of Home version. If you could squeeze a few more $$ out, a separate internal SSD (in addition to the operating system drive C drive) would be nice.

Since you are already doing 4K projects, consider squeezing into a current X99 platform even if the current performance is equal to the 4 core machine that fits your budget. Maybe, your CFO will spend another $1600 for a processor upgrade to a 10 core i7-6950 in a year or so.
