It does require the 486 with the FPU enabled though.

With 286 processors, your CPU fan could die and you could still run for a while . . .

@ Peter: So nice to see you around here.

Looking forward to trying out the new build.

Best regards from grey and rainy Copenhagen - days well suited for some indoor editing :- )

Ditto,

I remember overclocking the 486 close to its melting point...

Heavy snowstorm in Helsinki. Just barely had enough strength to (manually - without gloves) clear the driveway to the garage for my wife. Sitting here with cold fingers that barely can type...

I read though the build 486 release notes and did not see anything mentioned about GPU rendering fixes? Anyhow, thanks SCS for rolling out a bug fix, there seems to be a long list of other important fixes. Will now install it and explore, warming my fingers ;)

Fortunately the 486DX 20MHz and faster had the 487 FPU included right in the same die.

I remember hearing the rumor that the 486SX chips were merely 486DX that failed QC testing and had the FPU and 32 bit access deliberately fried.

What amazes me is the long list of bug fixes, most of which I don't recall seeing mentioned on this forum. Could they have a bug list generator program to create the impression that they are really working, and not just sitting there smirking and thumbing their noses at us? :)

Perhaps the number of bugs fixed shows why SCS has little time to respond to customer cries for help, although it does not justify poor response.

I haven't downloaded it yet but I see no mention of fixes for not saving tags and render favorites.

How about the 386 boards that you could add a math coprocessor to for a mere 300 bucks.

That was too funny. Thanks

Bugger - my 486SX hasn't got a FPU.

I've got a GPU though, but I've heard they're more trouble that they're worth ....
