New Clicking On Tracks, Was FINE Before?!?

Hi there -

Wondering ifanyone has an idea on this one. I've been using Vegas 5.0 + DVD with no problems with an M-Audio FireWire 410 for a while now. I haven't tried to record directly into Vegas in a few months - been mostly using prerecorded tracks, etc. - suddenly, after trying today for the first time in a while, I get all of this clicking that wasn't there before - it's almost in a pattern, like the sound of a CD skipping. Before you think this is the typical novice question, here's the troubleshooting I've done:

1. Uninstalled and reinstalled the FW-410 with the latest drivers and firmware

2. I've been using Vegas 5.0 - I upgraded it to 5.0d, but having to upgrade to 7.0 shouldn't be the answer, and if it is, that is digraceful - the amount of money I've spent on upgrades over the years is simply ridiclulous, especially when I've done it a bunch of times just to fix issues, and that shouldn't be the case

3. Monitored the input signal - no clips, everything is great - but when I select "Input Monitoring", I can hear it there.

4. This occurs even if I shut off all FX, mute other tracks, etc. - although when I record on a single track in a new project it does seem to do it less - the same amount it seems to do in Sound Forge, too.

I can't seem to find any additional settings that do anything to offset this. I wonder if some Windows upgrade caused an issue, etc. - either way, I am completely frustrated, once again.

Any thoughts out there on how to get around this?!?

THANK YOU...

Your problem is the buffer of your soundcard. It's too small.
If you use an m-audio, try the 512 value (well I think it's that).

Normally it should all be ok. Probably happend when you installed the new drivers.

To small value give cracks, to big give delay.

Hope it helps
