New Computer Advice

I've been happily using Movie Studio Platinum 6.0 for years on my ancient Sony Vaio desktop, but it's almost time to ditch the old hardware and buy a new machine. From the vast experience out there, any suggestions on what to look for (brand, processor, memory....) in a new machine? I'm sure I'll eventually be getting an HD video camera, so I'd like to future proof the computer hardware a little bit now. Thanks!

Any non-ULV/mobile CPU with 4 GB of RAM, 64bit OS, and an nVidia GPU is good enough.

Thanks, Eugenia....don't want to sound ignorant, but could you elaborate on "non-ULV"? Thanks!

Suggestion...
If you plan to play/render AVCHD (.mts/.m2ts) files, try to buy the best of the best because this video format requires so much PC resources...
I bought a very powerful PC at the beginning of this year, to let my AVCHD files plays/renders smoothly and still I think some more "power" would be better.

Ultra Low Voltage processor, i.e. under clocked to reduce power consumption.
