New Computer Specs

Father Christmas brought me a Microsoft 1000 optical keyboard and mouse. My computer looked so frayed at the edges when I hooked it up, I've decided on these specs to build a new one:

CASE TT SOPRANO 430W P4 TOWER/BLK
MBRD ASUS M2N32-SLI DELUXE WIFI
MEM CORSAIR VS 1GB PC5300 DDR2
CPU AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3800+ AM2 D/CORE
2 X HDD WESTERN DIGITAL 320GB 7200RPM SATA2 16MB
OPT PIONEER DVR-111D DVD-RW W/SOFT BK OEM
VC INNO3D 7600GS PCIE/256MB/TV/DVI
FDRV PANASONIC 1.44MB FLOPPY DRIVE BLACK

Any comments and suggestions greatly appreciated. Not into games, just editing and Internet.

Why AMD? Does the lowend X2 save you money over a lowend Intel Core 2 Duo?

Are you reusing parts.

The results here seem to indicate an Intel 6300 even beats a X2 4200.

Hi,

I have 2 Dual core 6300 and they are great processors at a low cost too. With the Asus P5WDH Deluxe or the Intel 975 board, 2 gig ram, etc. you get a great setup for Vegas IMHO of course ;-)

No, I am not re-using any parts.
Because of the usual financial restraints, the only item I won't be replacing, at this stage, is the monitor and, of course, my new keyboard. The setup needs to be sort of good performing low-end, not the latest and greatest.
