New Editing System

Well I have ordered a new motherboard, RAM and processor for my new editing system.
I went for the new ASUS P6X58D along with 12G of RAM and the i7-920 processor.
Has anyone here on this forum have any experience with this new board yet?
One of the reasons for picking this board is the USB3 and SATA III (6g/s transfer) capability, eventhough no devices are available yet I hope to have this board for a number of years and allows for future upgrading.
Also got a 80Gig SSD drive which I am going to set up as the boot drive and put Vegas on it.

Ted - I followed the Video Guys DIY7 guide

http://www.videoguys.com/Guide/C/DIY+Systems/Videoguys+DIY++Intel+Core+i7/0xe07f65920351fbf3ed8f9892355dfda0.aspx

I tell you what - its brilliant. I followed the guide exactly. I tested a render that took 36 hours on my core 2 3.00ghz. According to the new machine, it was going to finish in 9 hours - thats only 1/4 of the time. You wont regret it. What a machine!

CorTed,

Should be a great machine. Would be very interested in some long term observations of the SSD when you have some experience with it.

Mixer, I selected the Thermaltake contac 29 cooler
(planning to OC to 3.8GHz)

It was recommended by Newegg.

Ralph, I will let you know how the SSD performs once I got the beast up and running.
